QuiltMakerMay at Birdsong Quilting

At Birdsong Quilting, we like the idea of putting your work in the spotlight and we a focus on  #QuiltMakerMay with all of our fellow quilters would be fun. It’s an opportunity to highlight the importance of quilting in our lives and the joy it brings to both the maker and the recipient.

The Complete Executed Objects (C.E.O.) club here at Birdsong Quilting is a challenge we started in January. Participants entered by sharing their list of objects they wanted to finish and as they finish those projects each month, makers share a picture with us or bring it into the store to show it off! So many projects have been completed, we’re including a small sample in this post, and there is still the rest of May and the month of June to go!

For many quilters, quilting is a form of therapy that allows them to escape the stresses of daily life and find solace in their creative process. Quilting allows you to slow down, focus on the present, and create something beautiful with your hands. It's a way to connect with your inner self, express your creativity, and share your love with others.

Quilting has been around for centuries, and its roots can be traced back to ancient Egypt and China. Quilting was also a popular pastime during the American colonial period, where women would gather together to stitch quilts for their families and communities. Today, quilting has evolved into a beloved art form that is appreciated by people all around the world.

Have you heard of #MeMadeMay? It is an annual sewing event that encourages participants to wear their handmade clothing and accessories throughout the month of May. Participants can take part in various ways, from committing to wearing at least one handmade item per day to setting personal goals for making new pieces during the month.

We encourage you to share your love of quilting with others. Whether it's by teaching a friend how to quilt, sharing your latest project on social media and participating in a hashtag challenge, or simply talking about the joy quilting brings to your life, there are countless ways to spread the love!
